In Kentucky, we experience fall a little more subtly than in other places. Our temperatures stay at a pretty comfortable level, between 51 and 62 degrees, but sometimes it does reach as low as 36 degrees! This means we still have to think about our lawn care techniques with the weather changes. As the seasons change, although we don’t necessarily get a full-on cold-front, we still adjust our lawn care to ensure our turf is healthy the entire year.
It would be a shame to look after your turf the whole summer, just to get lazy in the fall, thinking it doesn’t need as much attention to detail as before. However, that isn’t the case. Fall lawn care techniques set you up for success after the winter comes and goes. They allow your turf to bloom and flourish each year without fail. When you follow these tips, you can create a greener, fuller lawn each year.
Turf is actually more likely to absorb the majority of top-seed fertilizer when it is moist. So that morning moisture that you find on top of your turf while enjoying your morning coffee will encourage your turf to get the most out of the fertilizer without wasting extra time or resources watering it each day.
During the winter, your turf struggles to stay alive, and giving it some extra food is the best way to prepare for the winter. The cool-season puts quite a bit of stress on lawns, so giving it a little extra boost will allow it to be fully prepared for times when it won’t be getting what it needs.
The part of your turf that creates that beautiful, full, green lawn is when it has healthy roots. By giving your grass more nutrients for a longer period of time, it will be healthy from below the ground to the tips of the blades of grass. When you have good roots, you’ll be able to see your turf do better in the long run. Fertilizing for a longer period of time encourages this.
The team over at Farison Lawn Care is more than highly capable of taking good care of your lawn all year long. We are fully prepared to overcome any obstacles your turf might have! We ensure a good fertilization schedule, handle your tree and shrub care, and even take care of those pesky mosquitoes and pests that stick around for much longer than they should.
